How to tell if an OPI polish is fake

The Front
Make sure the right font has been used and that it is aligned properly, without being skewed.

The Back
The address of the distribution centre in The Netherlands and the address of OPI in the US. should be on the back of the bottle. Also there are 4 warning signs that always come in the same order (as seen in the pictures) And if you dont see all 4 of the warning signs then you know that you have a fake OPI polish.

The Label
A genuine OPI bottle always has a double label on the bottom of the bottle. The first label has information such as the product name, product code, bar code and the 'Peel Here' suggestion. On the back of this first label you will find the ingredients. The Second label has the product name and code aligned in the center, and no barcode.

Serial Number
Genuine OPI bottle have a serial number engraved, on the side, towards the cap. You can't really see them that well, but they should be there. Now if the serial number is extremely noticable, then you have a fake OPI polish.

Balls
OPI bottles always have two steel balls in the bottle. If there's more or less then you have a fake polish.

Lush Cosmetics Store Visit

So this pass weekend July 9 I took a trip down to Old Town Pasadena (which for those of you that don't know is in Southern CA). I had an appt. at the Apple store to get my iPhone 4 replaced for the second time (which was a whole lot of drama and bs). So while down there I planned on stopping by places I don't get to go to much due to the fact that I don't want to drive 1 1/2 hours or more if there's L.A. traffic just to buy a few things. Well one of these places happen to be LUSH. I have order from the www.lush.com site but never been to a free standing store. So after my Apple appt. and dinner at The Melting Pot. I pop into LUSH. Now even before stepping foot into the store, I was hit with strong overpowering smells (which did give me a little headache but after about 10 mins. I was ok). The store was small but not cramped. And the only off putting thing was the loud techno music (which I could have done with out). I wasn't greeted right away, (which wasn't to big of an issue because I'm not one for pushy overbearing sales people). And when I did need help I was joined by a very friendly sales person who was more then willing answer questions and show me around. I only picked up 3 items and 2 samples. But my haul was well worth the trip. I like the fact that LUSH uses as little packaging as possible. And also that their yellow bags can stuck into a compost heaps or recycling bins marked for compost (I'm not sure if this done everywhere where you get 3 bins from Waste Management one for trash, one for recycling cans, bottles etc. and one for compost recycle such as grass, leafs, trees etc.). And that LUSH is a mostly vegan company. I am very happy with the items I picked up and I do plan on going back in a few months to stock up when the winter items come out. So over all my first time in a LUSH store was fun. And I can't wait to do it again.

John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Review

I am really surprised by the negative reviews of this product. I used the light golden brown color (6G) because I wanted to take another go at home color. I recently had my hair bleached light blonde (platinum) and wanted to go darker. My first thoughts were the kit looks of much better quality then most kits. The gloves alone with stood use and did not tear like normal gloves included in kits. Another thing that stood out is how the developer and colourant mix up very differently then other brands (I advise reading all the directions about mixing and applying before using this dye). It was very different having to be gentle with mixing the bottle and squeezing to apply the foam. But I found it well worth it. The scent is unbelievable (there was practically no smell). This went on pretty good and for my middle of the back hair I had plenty of dye without running out (but I will buy 2 boxes next time because my hair wasn't over-saturated as per the instructions). This applied pretty smoothly with no problems and massaging the color in was very easy. The color rinsed out very nicely and quickly. the was conditioner was also really nice, and left my hair feeling very soft, silky and very shiny (plus had a very nice scent that stayed in my hair every after I blow dried and pressed my hair out). My color for the most part looks good although I did miss a small part which is lighter then the rest if my hair but can't really see if I don't point the area out. I am not sure if that is from my not rubbing the color enough. Which brings me to a big point, the hair dye is actually encouraged to be rubbed in (which a lot of dyes you cannot do). I will use this again and just rub it in more. It is a great color and at least for me true to the box. I will continue to use this product....I love it.

Pros:
- chic packaging
- promise of no patches (a huge problem for my hair).
- The included directions were a no-brainer.
- There was little to no "hair color" smell.
- it didn't burn like every other product I tried.
- The gloves in the kit were heavy duty and comfortable.
- application was completely easy.
- didn't drip or make a mess in my bathroom.

Cons:
- very highly priced for a drugstore dye (side note: ever thou John Frieda is a higher end salon brand, I really don't like the ideal of having to spend $12 or more on a D.I.Y. product).
- there are only 20 shades and most can not be used on darker hair.
- colors do run a little dark on some shades.

Zoya Nail Polish in Tobey

Tobey is a cream finish polish that is free of shimmer and glitter. Between 1-5 (1 being sheer and 5 being opaque) this polish a 4 (it takes 2 coats to get it to be fully opaque). And this is a classics cool tone pink. Now Zoya says Tobey is a bright nearly-neon fuchsia-based candy pink creme. I agree with this and I call this the perfect barbie pink. Now i am not one to like bright pinks like this, but I must say I really do like this color and I don't mind own one bottle (lol yes my girly side wins over my tomboy side that seems to crave dark rich colors lol). Now I don't see myself wearing this color every day. I do think I will wear this color maybe once ever few weeks ( I tend to keep my nail polish on for a 3-4 days).

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics: Lip Tar Review

I finally decided to get some lip tars after hearing how much my Twitter and YouTube friends loved them. On Twitter I heard that Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (follow on twitter @occmakeup) were going to be offering 20 precent off (if you used discount code CYBER2010 at checkout) for Cyber Monday so I thought what a perfect time to try out lip tars for myself (I have ordered lip tars as gifts for others, also I did pick up a lot of the first lip tars to be offered at IMATS 2009 for my twin who loves them!). Now overall I am likely these lip tars very much. They are very pigmented and creamy. Also they are very long lasting, and it's very true that a little goes a long way. I have found the best way to apply these is to definitely use a lip brush. Now it is true that the darker colors do stain your lips and skin so be careful to take your time when applying these. Also wipe any mistakes off before they have time to dry so you do not stain any area other then your lips. Now just like any lip color such as lipsticks, glosses, etc. not all colors will suit every skin tone. But at the same time you can go by swatches you see on blogs, twitter, Facebook, or YouTube because these swatches will not give you the lip tar's true color (tell people if your just starting off with occ lip tars pick up a few at a time and try them out. Because you are able to mix these tars together you'll be able to see which colors work straight out the tube and which colors you'll need to mix with others color to get a shade that works best with your skin tone). Now the colors I picked out were:

Memento (which is describe as a coquettish (or in simple terms flirty) pink/plum shade)

Trick (which is describe as a creme beige neutral shade)

Demure (which is describe as a rich purplish fuchsia shade)

Petty Beige (which is describe as a rich, golden ecru (or in simple terms a warm creamy beige) shade)

Amine (which is describe as a vivid neon hot pink shade)

Now I was pleasantly surprised to see that the 3 lighter shades I ordered were not as pale or chalky as I was lead to believe by other blogs and YouTube videos. And when I tried Trick and Petty Beige out, I found them to be very lovely nude shades that did not wash me out or give me that nasty jizz lip look that so many seem to think is cute (omg this is not cute on anyone!! I put it up there with the orange fake and bake tan and food related weaves which I still don't understand!). Now Memento is the 3rd lighter shade I got and it's one of the few light pinks that I can say I love. As for the 2 deeper shades Amine and Demure there is nothing bad I could ever say about them!! Amine and Demure are both vivid, bold shades that I think any woman (expescially women of color) color rock. Now over all I would have to say I give these 5 lip tars a 9 out of 10 and the reason for this happen to be because of an issue I had with getting my package (if your on my twitter you know all about what happen). But overall 9 or 10 is far from bad. Now would say go and pick up a few if these for yourself. Also I have listed places where OCC Products are availble

NEW YORK:
ALCONE
322 W. 49TH STREET
NEW YORK, NY 10019
PH: 212-757-3734

Sleek i-Divine Acid Palette Review

So I finally have time to sit down and write this review (yes after months of saying I would lol I'm sorry I've been lazy) I don't know why I didn't write this sooner but better late then never right?? So when you first look at the colors in the Acid palette, they are crazy bright and seemingly very pigmented. Now this is a mineral based eyeshadow palette with 12 colors. I must start by stating I was sent this palette from my friend Gail who lives in the UK (seeing that Sleek is a UK brand). You are able to buy these at drugstores through out the UK, we in the states and othe countries can get them at http://www.sleekmakeup.com/ (I suggest making your order worth it because the shipping is pricey about $14 USD flat fee). Now the palettes are £7.53 GBP on the site, so that is $11.75 USD. Sleek is the best way to describe packing of this palette. The box the palette comes in are very pretty also. On the back of the palette is the name, ingredients, and website info. The palette comes with a large mirror, and double sided sponge-tip applicator. The pans are a little bit bigger then the size of a US dime. I've used this palette on myself and on others. Now a con of this palette is that colors don't come with names but I have numbered them and written about them individually. shadows number 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10 and 12 are matte colors, the rest are satin or frosty. Now I will break down the colors by number and let you know what I think of each color:

1. This is a purple with pink tone (this color is comparable to mac's stars n' rockets which is purple with pink pearl). It's a nice color, smooth texture. This happens to be one of my favorites in the palette. I give this color a A++

2. This is a matte white. I don't use this white at all. It is not very pigmented and is very chalky with a lot of fallout. I have give this color an F-

3. This is a matte yellow. It is a nice bulidable bright color (I would say use a base to make the color pop even more, even with just a primer the color still is bright). i give this color a B-

4. This is a matte orange. It's very bright and neon, but has to be builded up due to the color not being highly pigmented. Now once again this is a color I'd say to use a base with it. I do like this color but like I stated you do have to put in some work to get it to the color you want. I give this color a B

5. This is a frosty ocean blue. The texture is smooth and the is very pigmented. This color can be used wet to get a foiled look. I gave this color an A

6. This is a frosty lighter blue. This is a pigmented shadow, but the texture is chunky which causes fallout. But if applied wet goes on smooth. I give this color a B

7. This is a matte deep purple. This a very pigmented shadow, and a nice color. It is a little chunky, but is more pigmented than the neon shadows. I give this color a A

8. This is a satin lime green. It is a pigmented color. The texture is smooth and can be used wet to get a sheer wash of color. I give this color a B+

9. This is a matte hot neon pink. It's a very nice color (again using a base or even just a primer will make this neon pink POP!!!). I like this shadow a lot. I give this color an A

10. This is a hot neon green And just like the hot pink should be used with a base to make the color POP!!! I give this color an A

11. This is a frosty gun metal grey. When used wet this color gives off beautiful metallic finish. It is very pigmented. And has one of the best textures in this palette. One of my favorite colors out of this palette. I give this color an A+

12. This is a matte black (I'd say very comparable to mac's carbon). It's very pigmented with a smooth texture. I say this is one of the best blacks I have ever used ( yes better then a lot of higher end makeup brand blacks I own). I give this color an A++

All in all this is a very nice colorful neon palette, yes some of these colors are prone to fallout. And a base is need to get their true colors to pop. And just like other mattes these can be little difficult to blend (this happens to be true with most neon colors of any brand high or low end). So would I say that this is a must have palette? Well if your a makeup lover such as myself yes this is obviously a must have!!! I mean your paying only £7.53 GBP /$11.75 USD for 12 shadows which is a great price. So over all I have this palette a B+

Wet n Wild Limited Edition Holiday 2010 Palettes

I was so excited when the WnW Holiday 2010 Coloricon palettes finally hit stores late Oct. 2010. I got all 4 of these palettes (thanks to @caddylove02, @MakeupByCandie and Howard). So my love for the WnW Coloricon palettes started months ago after watching YouTube videos and read on twitter how great they were I was unable to find them, so the lovely @ReeRee_MUA sent me my first 2 original Coloricon palettes in Pride and Vanity. And from there on I was hooked. Unlike the original Coloricon palettes, the Holiday palettes do not have corresponding shimmer and matte shades. the shades are all shimmer or frosty. Just like the original Coloricon palettes, the formulas for these shadows are creamy, smooth, and long-wearing, not to mention very very pigmented. The Holiday palettes also come with a bonus eyeliner pencil in a color to match the palette. All for only $4.99 (well if your lucky like some ladies I've talked to $2.99 on sale).

The Golden Goddess palette offers six beautiful brown shades. I am neutrals type of girl and this palette is AMAZING!! There is such a wide spectrum of browns that I think every skin tone can wear and come up with 100s of looks using all or most of the shades in the palette. Now my 2 favorite color are the burnt orange and chocolates brown with gold shimmer on the bottom row.

Now the next palette is The Night Elf which I must say is definitely the most unique palette of the 4 palettes (I think this is due to a lot of people not really owning shades like these {unless you are a MUA or someone who lives for makeup like myself} and also due to the matching of the colors in the palette, people really didn't understand how they would work but once people tried them out and saw how beautiful the color blend together they were hooked). Now this palette is the smokey eye palette of the 4, but with 2 suprising shades added. The festive red shade, and blue-brown duo chrome shade (which is a red-brown based shadow with a blue over tone that makes the most beautiful outstanding color you have ever seen). This palette comes with a black (with sliver shimmer) eye liner pencil. My 2 favorite colors in this palette are the Beigy-taupe in the middle row and the blue-brown duo chrome on the bottom row.

Now The Sugar Plum Fairy palette is a purple lovers dream come true. The top two shades seem to be a white and peachy-beige shade, but once these shades are swatch you come to see they are really purple duo chrome shades . This palette comes with a purple (with purple shimmer) eye liner pencil. Now my favorite color happens to be the blacken burgundy with shimmer on the bottom left. Now a lot of people have been saying this color looks like NARS's Galapagos eye shadow which is not true at all (Galapagos is rich bronze with gold flecks). I would say this color is a better version of MAC's Beauty Mark eye shadow.

Now last but not least is The Snow Sprite palette. This palette features beautiful shades of blue and green. The lighter shades in this palette have a nice frosty sheen to them which kinda makes them look wet on the eye (which is a very hot effect). The Snow Sprite palette comes with a silver eye liner pencil. Now my 2 favorite colors in this palette happens to be the to blacken shades on the bottom row. The first shade is a blacken shimmery hunter green (which when swatched still shows to be green and just not black with green shimmer). And the blacken shimmery navy blue (which like the green, when swatched you can tell it is a deeper blue shade and not just a black with blue shimmer).

The WnW Holiday 2010 Coloricon palettes are found in grocery stores or drugstores. These palettes are limited edition and have been selling out quickly. A lot of people (myself being one of these people) have been having a very hard time finding these palettes in my area. I had to get these palettes sent to me by other people in different cities and states. Now once these palettes have been found many people have said that there are only between 4-8 palettes per store and many stores have not restocked them and have taken down the display. Now on twitter WnW made this statement "@wetnwildbeauty: Sorry to all of you that's been having a hard time finding the holiday palettes! We had no idea they were going to be so popular!" this has seemed to kinda (maybe just a tiny little bit) help people understand that WnW did not foresee or did not understand what a cult following WnW now has due to the Coloricon line. WnW is no longer the cheap tacky brand from our high school days (lol yes I'm old class of 2000 baby!) but now is a ever growing drugstore brand who are giving higher end makeup brands a run for their money. Now I hope everyone gets their hands on at least one of these gorgeous palettes. And I can't wait to see what else WnW has in store for us beauty lovers.

Rock and Republic Cosmetics Blush Review

I recently got a few blushes from Rock & Republic due to a www.BeautyStory.com sale. Now although Rock & Republic is known as high-end American jean brand, they have branched out and currently offer a clothing line for men, women, and children as well as shoes, handbags and cosmetics. Now Rock & Republic Cosmetics is a high-end/luxury line available at select Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale locations, as well as online. Rock & Republic blushes packaging is a heavy silver plastic with the R&R logo raised over a black background on the front. it opens up to a big heavy mirror, the closure is magnetic. And for a luxury line such as this the packaging is perfectly over the top. Now you receive your blush in a mini hat box which is nice but at the same time make's it hard to store in a train case due to the size of the round box.

Now Rock & Republic blushes retail for $40 USD (which for some is a bit high but again you guys this is a high-end/luxury line and you are paying for the brand name, packaging etc.) But I didn't pay reg. retail price!!! I am a memeber of HauteLook and BeautyStory. These are sites that are geared to sample sales where you receive anywhere from 30% to 80% off retail price!!! I ordered my blushes from BeautyStory where the blushes were priced at 50% plus I receive $15off and $10off my orders using discount codes from a few beauty blogs I follow on twitter. I purchased 3 blushes and was very thrilled to get blushes that were bold, and bright. Rock & Republic are pressed powder blushes that are extremely pigmented, with a smooth, silky texture. Available in three finishes: matte, shimmer and transluent and can be used to highlight or accent. Now Rock & Republic are pressed powder blushes are available in 10 shades. I pick up 3 of the boldest color from this line and all of them happen to be matte which I love but can be little difficult for some to apply {tip: a light hand and a good brush are essential to applying very pigmented matte blushes} I picked: Kinky a cool, bright hot matte pink, X-Rated a deep rasberry pink, and Immoral a bright construction vest orange. I picked these colors because they are pretty unique shades and very worth trying. Now I only got 3 blushes because the other colors {Bedroom a matte guava pink, Foreplay a matte peach, Lust a sparkly red with gold, and Shameless a sparkly reddened brown with gold} I wanted to get had all sold out :( Now if your they type of person who's put off by racey names like ike Tease, Kinky, X-Rated and Immoral, then these may not be for you but if you can look pass these names (which I happen to love but I also love the way NARS names it's line also so....) Then these blushes are for you. And let's face it we all love our makeup porn don't we lol.

Immoral: a bright construction vest orange

X-Rated: a deep rasberry pink

Kinky: a cool, bright hot pink

Bamboozled by Amazon.com E-tailer Nail Beauty 4U

So the OPI Shrek Forever After collection came out last month and I wanted 5 out of the 6 polish (I wasn't a fan of light yellowy-green called fiercely fiona). Now I went to my local Trade Secret and got 3 of the colors I wanted but after paying for the polish the casheir dropped my bag and the polishes broke!!! I was able to get 2 of the polish replaced but the 3rd one was sold out so I was given a refund. And I was sad about this because OPI rarely puts out collections that don't have pinks, reds, or wines. Well on Twitter I was tweeting how I was sad that I didnt get one of the colrs I really wanted. well one the the beauty bloggers I follow on twitter and on her blog posted a link to Amazon.com and there were a lot of e-tailer selling OPI at a lower price than the suggested retail price. And I thought I was getting a great deal but that was far from the case....

I ordered the 2 polish that was unablle to get at the beauty supply store and I was happy to see that these polsih were no more then $5 each (reg price is between $8.50 and $9). Well when they came in the mail 2 days later I was excited to get these polishes UNTIL I looked at the bottle. Now I have a few OPI polishes and all of them look the same, but these were different. There was no double label on the bottom of the bottle, there are only 3 warning signs on the back of the bottle, the font was not the same and over sized. And there are no balls in the polish. Well I conacted the seller and was sent an email (email below). Now I called OPI Products Inc. and told them about how the bottles and the missing info and I was informed that OPI has no authorized sellers on Amazon.com and that I had been sold fake OPI. Well you guys know I was pissed off to no end. I mean I don't like getting sold fake items.

So after getting that BS email from Nail Beauty 4U. I called Amazon.com and talked to a really nice CSA who I told what had happen and what I was told by OPI Products Inc. Well the CSA was very undertsanding and filed an A-to-Z guarantee claim. Now I know so of you may be thinking what a dumb thing to get mad at. I mean the polishes were cheaper then the real thing and who cares if it's fake, as long as the color payoff is good. Well let me say this, the color payoff wasnt all that great. Now it's one thing to buy fake brands knowingly and its another to be sold a fake product when you are told that your buying a genuine item is another.

Now after my twiiter rant I was sent an email from a follower explaining the reason why the cheaper e-tailers don’t have OPI any more. Long story short, e-tailers are not authorized sellers of OPI. And they can’t get any legit OPI products from OPI. So some have gone to buying OPI (or buying fake OPI) the unauthorized way. Now on the real OPI some of these companies file off the OPI Serial Number (this number is crucial to OPI in terms of quality control). And this is very important because if there is any reason OPI has to recall a bottle this serial number is what they would use to let you know to stop using this item and take it back to the store. So what out the serial number you would know there was anything wrong and if you got sick or anything from using this recalled item you would be able to place lawsuit which OPI dose not want or need. So from now on e-tailers will not be selling OPI. Now if you dont mind buying the fake becuase they are cheaper, then go a head (because you know it fake and want a good deal). But if your buying LE collection color online and you it looks off to you 99.999% of the time its fake. Now I want to thank all of you for reading my blog and tweets and putting up with my rants lol So 2 lucky people will win a mini set. All you need to do is be a follower to my twiiter http://twitter.com/proudchapina and my blog. And you must leave a short comment on how you feel about e-tailers selling fake makeup to unknowing buyers. I will leave this giveaway open for one week and will pick the winners using random.com (and please know I will make sure you are a follower of both my blog and twitter).

Sugar And Spice And Everything Nice Thats What A Sugarpill Girl Is Made Of!!!

The launch of Sugarpill Cosmetics was long awaited and well over due!!!! But good thing come to those who wait, and let me tell you the wait was well worth it!!!! Now Sugarpill is the love child of Amy Doan (better known as Shrinkle). Amy is the uniquely beautiful blue hair diva behind the colorful Shrinkle clothing line (which can me found at http://www.etsy.com/shop/shrinkle). After years of seeing a demand for dramatic shades that are long-lasting, bright, and that would remain flawlessly bold after a long night of clubbing or a long day of work well the dream Sugarpill was born. Now Sugarpill is NOT private label makeup (better known as repackage makeup think those paint wheels, quadliest, and single shadows that we all know come from LadyBird). Amy wanted to have full control over the cosmetic"s quality, brand image and products. And in February 2010 Sugarpill was born. Introducing the world to a new line of luxury eyeshadows in unique colors that anyone from the club kids of New York and San Francisco. To the Hip-Hop heads of Los Angeles and club divas of Miami could rock.!! Need more proof??? Google Sugarpill and see the many reviews done by YouTube's makeup gurus, beauty bloggers and the everyday makeup junkie who have nothing but high praise for this exciting new cosmetics line that we all know has a very long future in this makeup game. Wonder what Amy will come out with next??!!?? Guess well just have to wait and see.....

I was so excited when Amy asked me if I wanted to try out her line (I mean its a honor to be asked to review a new line and it's even cooler to be in the company of so many great bloggers and makeup gurus) And the day my post man delivered my box was just like getting an awesome Valentine's Day gift)

Pressed Eyeshadows: Butter Cupcake, Poison Plum, Dollipop, FlamePoint, AfterParty, Midori, Love+

These colors are so bright and bold!!!! And let me just say I've been on the hunt for a true red forever!!! And Love+ was a dream come true!!! (I'm a NC43-NC44/NW40 and reds have a weird way of looking orange on me) But as you can see from the swatches Love+ stays true to color!!!

All colors swatched one time using a Q-tip and placed over Urban Decay Primer Potion

Chromalust: Goldilux, Magpie, Absinthe, Royal Sugar, Starling

(Loose eyeshadows are packed by weight, not volume. Some ingredients may settle during shipping, which gives the appearance of being less full)

All colors swatched dry over Urban Decay Primer Potion

http://www.sugarpillshop.com/

Shipping:
$5 flat rate for shipping anywhere in the U.S.

International shipping rates are based on the following scale:
Orders under $20 ship for $6
Orders up to $40 ship for $8
Orders up to $60 ship for $10
Orders up to $75 ship for $12
Shipping is FREE on orders over $75 regardless of where you live!
