So the OPI Shrek Forever After collection came out last month and I wanted 5 out of the 6 polish (I wasn't a fan of light yellowy-green called fiercely fiona). Now I went to my local Trade Secret and got 3 of the colors I wanted but after paying for the polish the casheir dropped my bag and the polishes broke!!! I was able to get 2 of the polish replaced but the 3rd one was sold out so I was given a refund. And I was sad about this because OPI rarely puts out collections that don't have pinks, reds, or wines. Well on Twitter I was tweeting how I was sad that I didnt get one of the colrs I really wanted. well one the the beauty bloggers I follow on twitter and on her blog posted a link to Amazon.com and there were a lot of e-tailer selling OPI at a lower price than the suggested retail price. And I thought I was getting a great deal but that was far from the case....

I ordered the 2 polish that was unablle to get at the beauty supply store and I was happy to see that these polsih were no more then $5 each (reg price is between $8.50 and $9). Well when they came in the mail 2 days later I was excited to get these polishes UNTIL I looked at the bottle. Now I have a few OPI polishes and all of them look the same, but these were different. There was no double label on the bottom of the bottle, there are only 3 warning signs on the back of the bottle, the font was not the same and over sized. And there are no balls in the polish. Well I conacted the seller and was sent an email (email below). Now I called OPI Products Inc. and told them about how the bottles and the missing info and I was informed that OPI has no authorized sellers on Amazon.com and that I had been sold fake OPI. Well you guys know I was pissed off to no end. I mean I don't like getting sold fake items.

So after getting that BS email from Nail Beauty 4U. I called Amazon.com and talked to a really nice CSA who I told what had happen and what I was told by OPI Products Inc. Well the CSA was very undertsanding and filed an A-to-Z guarantee claim. Now I know so of you may be thinking what a dumb thing to get mad at. I mean the polishes were cheaper then the real thing and who cares if it's fake, as long as the color payoff is good. Well let me say this, the color payoff wasnt all that great. Now it's one thing to buy fake brands knowingly and its another to be sold a fake product when you are told that your buying a genuine item is another.

Now after my twiiter rant I was sent an email from a follower explaining the reason why the cheaper e-tailers don’t have OPI any more. Long story short,  e-tailers are not authorized sellers of OPI. And they can’t get any legit OPI products from OPI. So some have gone to buying OPI (or buying fake OPI) the unauthorized way. Now on the real OPI some of these companies file off the OPI Serial Number (this number is crucial to OPI in terms of quality control). And this is very important because if there is any reason OPI has to recall a bottle this serial number is what they would use to let you know to stop using this item and take it back to the store. So what out the serial number you would know there was anything wrong and if you got sick or anything from using this recalled item you would be able to place lawsuit which OPI dose not want or need. So from now on e-tailers will not be selling OPI. Now if you dont mind buying the fake becuase they are cheaper, then go a head (because you know it fake and want a good deal). But if your buying LE collection color online and you it looks off to you 99.999% of the time its fake. Now I want to thank all of you for reading my blog and tweets and putting up with my rants lol So 2 lucky people will win a mini set. All you need to do is be a follower to my twiiter http://twitter.com/proudchapina and my blog. And you must leave a short comment on how you feel about e-tailers selling fake makeup to unknowing buyers. I will leave this giveaway open for one week and will pick the winners using random.com (and please know I will make sure you are a follower of both my blog and twitter).

I think it's pretty pathetic that there are fakes out there! If these fakes spent the time they spend making fake products in making real polishes they could go somewhere! I'm sorry you
had to deal with this drama!

Holy crap friend are you serious?? They are even bootlegging Opi?!!! wow.. this is amazing.

I'm all down for imposters, but please make sure to use "FAKE" in the title. Aka "FAKE MAC" At least you know it's fake, but it still has a great pay off. D

It's like buying a knock off purse.. you know it's a knock off.. just say it's a knock off. I find most people don't even care.. as long as they are getting a good deal. I don't however find it cool to charge people the same price for a knock off either.. that shit better be 75% lower if anything lmao.

I'm sorry you had to deal with this.. Seems to me more people need to get caught and more regulations need to be made for online purchases... the customers need to be protected more.

Girl I am so sorry that happened to you. I remember your twitter tirade, and felt bad for you then too. It sucks that people will do anything for a dollar. Thanks for this post too, b/c I was looking up OPI polishes on Amazon before.

So....if Sally's sells OPI online is it fake now? Or do they not carry it online anymore?

Wow, I would have never thought Amazon would fake beauty products, I know you have to watch out for that stuff on ebay. You have every right to be pissed, I know I would be. Its one thing to knownly buy something "knock off/fake", I hate when folks try to get over on someone saying it "real". You were wise enough to know it was a fake when it arrived, I wonder how many peolpe bought from them thing they got the real thing? Thanks for the heads up.

I am glad to see that Amazon took care of you right away. If the product is stated to be authentic then I trust that it is. So yeah I would hate to have been sold fake items under the guise that its the real thing! But you handle this very well and were on top of your game. I would hate to mess with you. Companies need to be honest and do honest business...this is why I am sometimes leery of buying from etailers because I don't know the quality or authenticity until I receive the product and sometimes the hassle can be so demanding to return it.

I’m so glad that I ran across your site because I was planning on purchasing some of the OPI Shrek collection on Amazon a few days ago. I ended up getting some other polish from Sally’s so I decided not to order these yet, but I was planning on it because I thought the prices were good and I only really liked 2 of the colors. That is really sad that this happened to you, but also good in a way so you can beware future buyers like me about this. So thank you for sharing! I guess I’ll have to find a different place to order from since I don’t think my Target is getting them in…..

I follow you on twitter @vantalee and your blog on Google Friend under Vjmon24

Thanks!

It really bugs me that sellers first sell fake products, & then when the consumer comes to know, they still deny it?! WTH! Such sellers should be penalized, it's fraud after all Sad
But at the same time, OPI should have some authorized etailers, cuz OPI may not be easily accessible to everyone, ya know.

Anyways, I follow your blog as 'rhea katyal' & your twitter as 'ChainNailBlog' =)
Thanx,
Rhea

Ahh that explains why Head2ToeBeauty doesn't carry the brand anymore. I hate dishonest people/sellers! This is one of the reasons why I don't buy high-end brands on ebay anymore (got scammed with a MAC eyeliner). I do buy polishes though...might not anymore after being made aware of this. So sorry it happened to you. I would have been pissed too! How sad is it that sellers will resort to doing this in order to offer a product their customer want...only problem by doing this they are not offering what the customer want...who wants cheap fakes?
I'm following on twitter...well you know that already Smiling LOL
thanks beautiful! Sorry again about this whole mess!

This Is Pure Fuckery! WOW! People Will Do Anything For More! This Shows That Amazon Needs To Scan Its Seller More Complete. It's Good They Are Giving You Are Money Back, That Shows Good Customer Service.

P.S. This Collection Is A Musy!

I really wish that those fake e-sellers would realize that consumers are getting smarter and smarter. They cant expect to sell something so obviously fake and the seller not to even bat an eyelash. Im glad you were able to settle it and were persistent with what you knew were fake nail polishes! I love reading your posts! Keep it up! Smiling
